Maintaining a Clean Water Supply

Water is not considered very important when provided, but its importance is observed during the times of crisis. When there is any kind of emergency in the country, the supply of water is affected. People never know when the time comes for an emergency water supply. A backup support in the form of emergency water supply is extremely needed at times. People are never interested about the supply of water in normal life, but they desperately want the water supply at the time of disasters. You must prepare for all kinds of possibilities as anything can happen in a person’s life, which he is not aware of. At the time of disasters, when you know that there can be water supply, you should immediately try to store lots of clean water. This clean water storage can be done as follows:

· Everyone must try filling big and small containers with cold water and then placing them in the refrigerator. At the time of drinking, you can melt down this ice in order to bring it at a normal temperature.
· Anyone can even use bleach to clean down the bath tub, which can then be filled with water.
· If you have not added any kind of chemicals in your toilet tank in the past, then the water in this tank can be used for drinking purposes. Every time some amount of water is being kept in your water pipes waiting to come out as soon as you open the tap. So you will get some amount of water from these pipes, even if you have not got water in your tank.

Due to the polluted water coming these days, the government has started adding chlorine to the water in order to make it drinkable. However, sometimes the chlorine content gets in excess, which might create a problem for you like the taste of water getting deviated. If you find the chlorine content in the water to be high, then you need to remove this extra chlorine. The normal filtration system is capable of removing chlorine from the water. This filtered water should be consumed early else the microbes present in the water may increase with time. A hard water test strip is available in the market with the help of which you can test the hardness of water.

 
Hard water is generally used for washing purposes while soft water is used for drinking. Hard water can be dangerous when taken. A hard water tool kit is also available in the market which comprises of a small bottle. The water to be tested is taken inside the bottle and the tablets are dissolved in it. The change of the color determines the hardness of the water. You should constantly check your water supply, whether it is providing you with the clean and purified water. Your water supply should be stable and reliable. It should not stop at the time of small crisis. This can only be done if you check it yourself and also keep another water supply which you can use at the time of disasters.
